Materia: Elements · for iPhone

Explore matter.

The periodic table, brought to life. Explore all 118 elements through an interactive experience designed for discovery.

The periodic table, reimagined

All 118 elements.
One living system.

In Materia the table is not a chart you read. It is a surface you move through — bring any element into focus and its details come with it.

Element categories

This table is part of this website — a preview of the elements Materia brings to life on iPhone. Colours mark element categories, which are also named in each element's details. Masses shown in brackets are the mass number of an element's most stable isotope, the IUPAC convention for elements without a standard atomic weight.

Three ways to explore

Grid. Table. Orbit.

One set of elements, three ways of seeing them. Switch whenever you like — your attention carries over.

Grid

A visual way to move through the elements — cards you can scan, narrow down, and open.

Table

The whole structure

The complete periodic table, with pinch and double-tap zoom that go from the full layout down to a single element.

Orbit

Focus, spatially

An immersive view that holds one element at the centre and arranges the rest around it, so relationships are something you move through rather than look up.

Materia Pro

Orbit is an exploration visualisation, not a model of atomic structure. Any view can be narrowed to metals, nonmetals, noble gases, the elements of life, or common compounds.

Go deeper

Understand what you're exploring.

Materia pairs visual exploration with the essentials, written in plain language. Open an element and you get what it is before you get the chemistry.

  • Element detail. Atomic number, atomic mass, group, period, and a short description — for every one of the 118 elements.
  • Explain. Curated walkthroughs of how particular elements behave together, each with its own animation, reachable from the elements involved.
  • Honest data. Elements with no stable isotope show the mass number of their most stable isotope in brackets — the IUPAC convention — rather than invented decimal precision.

In the Explain library

  • Water Formation H₂O
  • Sodium Chloride NaCl
  • Carbon Bonding C–H, C–O, C–C
  • Noble Gas Stability Full outer shell
  • Oxygen Reactivity Fe + O₂ → oxidation

Explanations are included with Materia; the full library unlocks with Materia Pro.

Materia Pro

One-time purchase. Yours forever.

  • Explore in Orbit

Discover elements through an immersive, spatial view.

  • Full Explain Library
